Medical Director, East

Karen Woods, M.D.

Dr. Karen Woods is the medical director at Banner Rehabilitation Hospital East. In this role since 2022, Dr. Woods oversees the hospital’s clinical work and medical staff.

Previously, Dr. Woods worked for four years at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) within corporate productivity, physician services, hospital finance and UPMC Health Plan.

Dr. Woods is a board-certified physical medicine and rehabilitation physician specializing in inpatient rehabilitation with a clinical focus on stroke, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury and medically complex patients.

She earned her bachelor’s degree from Grove City College and completed a post-baccalaureate program at the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Woods earned her medical degree from the Ohio State University College of Medicine, where she graduated cum laude. She completed her residency at the Ohio State Wexner Medical Center and her internship at OhioHealth Riverside Methodist Hospital.
